History
OH-2:
Christine Bonansea
OH-2 is the second part of the series OH Project that inquiries human conditioned reality. This choreographic project, inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche’s aphoristic volume Human, All Too Human, is elaborated in collaboration with the light designer, Solomon Weisbard, the visual designer Yoann Trellu and the music composer Nicole Carroll. OH Project was initiated with the solo OnlyHuman, co-produced by DOCK11 in Berlin (2017 and 2018) and toured internationally, premiering at Danspace Project in New York City (2018). OH-2, is a group piece, a one hour full evening length choreographic work that will be performed in an open space or box theater by 10 dancers in 2019 in Berlin. OnlyHuman explored one body as multiple, OH-2 explores multiple bodies that become one, using the mass and density of a large cast of artists and the audience. The body mass will play with various physical quantities and dynamics; revealing its evolutive movement and transformation in space.
OH-2 performances engage local community as well as an international audience.
Pros-(H)er-Pere:
Sara Galas Band
Pros-(H)er-Pere is a collaborative project in development by Sara Galassini and Yukio Tsuji. The interdisciplinary piece is inspired by the symbolism and themes of the Myth of Persephone and Demeter to explore the emergence of the feminine and the masculine in one being through the creation of a physical, visual and sonic vocabulary that juxtaposes the forms of Noh and Kyogen Theater with contemporary dance, ritual, ethnic instruments, synthesizer and guitar sounds, as well as song and chant created with deconstructed and made up text, as well as English and Italian language.
A, My Name Is... :
Stefanie Nelson
The title, A, MY NAME IS…, refers to a children’s alphabet rhyming game designed to coordinate physical and verbal skills. New York-based Nelson tells a story of memory and forgetting in a dance featuring three female performers in different stages of life – and a male figure personifying life’s unpredictable circumstances. This multidisciplinary piece is a playful exploration into the absurdity of memory loss, inspired by the choreographer’s personal encounter with a family member’s dementia. Increasingly organized phrases peak and subsequently dissolve into disorientation – a visual metaphor for memory loss. Nelson makes ample use of apple imagery to evoke the loss of beauty and innocence, the passage of time, the inexorability of gravity, and the inevitability of decay.
