BUIO PESTO

Program

Advanced Training

Taught by

Annika Pannitto

In the Italian language, the expression buio pesto indicates a place, or a situation, of complete darkness. More metaphorically, it also refers to a difficulty to take a concrete decision, due a lack of “vision”.

This workshop is an invitation to dance in the dark, and to get into an available and open state for research.

I believe that it is very important to question one’s own dance and go beyond usual patterns.  I would like to investigate what we know and connect to the unknown.

We work starting from body’s presence and movement’s temporality, we relate our dance to others, we investigate composition and the space of the movement. I’m interested in opening a reflection about the inner state of the dancer and how, from that place, it is possible to make a change of the external conditions.

What happens when we produce movement? how do we move between known and unknown “things”? what kind of knowledge do we produce when we dance?

“It is difficult to find out what we don't know.” (Steve Paxton)
